State Senator Tom O'Mara announced that the joint Senate-Assembly hearings on Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposed 2025-2026 New York State budget will continue with a focus on Elementary and Secondary Education. The hearings, which began this week, are part of a monthlong schedule to review the governor's proposals.
The education hearing is scheduled for Wednesday and can be viewed online starting at 9:30 AM. Archived videos of each session will be available afterward. These hearings provide an opportunity for members of the Legislature’s fiscal committees to receive testimony from top officials in the Hochul administration, state agency heads, local leaders, and various stakeholders affected by the state’s annual budget.
Senator O'Mara emphasized the role of Senate Republicans during these hearings. "Senate Republicans will continue to be a voice for lower taxes, less regulation, greater accountability, affordability, economic growth, job creation, and more common sense on state fiscal practices," he stated. O'Mara represents the 58th Senate District which includes Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Yates counties, and part of Allegany County.
