State Senator Tom O'Mara has announced that joint Senate-Assembly hearings on Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposed 2025-2026 New York State budget will continue today. The focus of today's session is on Local Government and General Government proposals.
The budget hearings, which began earlier this week, are part of a monthlong series designed to scrutinize the governor's budget plan. The hearings allow members of the Legislature’s fiscal committees to gather testimony from administration officials, state agency heads, local leaders, and various stakeholders affected by the state's annual budget.
"Senate Republicans will continue to be a voice for lower taxes, less regulation, greater accountability, affordability, economic growth, job creation, and more common sense on state fiscal practices," stated O’Mara. He emphasized the importance of these hearings for providing direct input and critique on policy areas crucial to the future strength of local communities and economies.
O'Mara represents the 58th Senate District which includes Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Yates counties and part of Allegany County. Today's hearing can be viewed online starting at 9:30 AM with archived videos available after each session.
