State Senator Tom O'Mara announced that the joint Senate-Assembly hearings on Governor Kathy Hochul's proposed 2025-2026 New York State budget will continue with a focus on Public Protection. The hearings are part of a monthlong schedule set to conclude at the end of February.
The hearing on Public Protection is scheduled for Thursday and can be viewed online starting at 9:30 AM. Archived videos will be available after each session. During these hearings, members of the Legislature’s fiscal committees will receive testimony from officials in the Hochul administration, state agency heads, local leaders, and various stakeholders affected by the state's annual budget.
Senator O'Mara stated, "Senate Republicans will continue to be a voice for lower taxes, less regulation, greater accountability, affordability, economic growth, job creation, and more common sense on state fiscal practices." He emphasized the importance of this year's budget hearings as an opportunity for direct input and critique on policies that will influence both short- and long-term outcomes for local communities and economies.
O'Mara represents New York's 58th Senate District, which includes Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Yates counties, and part of Allegany County.
