Union-Endicott Central School District issued the following announcement on Oct 28.
Senior Brianna (Bri) Attey-Mouanjo was recognized as an Akshar All-Star for her involvement in and out of school.
Bri was part of a panel discussion on “Reflecting, Responding, Rethinking to Support Student Mental Health and Wellness: A Panel of Parents and Caregivers.” As a panelist, Bri shared her experience as a caregiver taking on the role of caring for her sister and helping her with school throughout the pandemic.
Bri is active with UNITY (Urban Neighborhoods Improved through Youth). Through UNITY's summer enrichment program, Bri worked on two primary projects: a website that promotes small businesses in Endicott and a race workshop for a Virtual Civic Engagement Conference conducted over ZOOM with other teen leaders from around the state.
In addition, she is a member of YES Leads, Key Club, UEEF, Girl-Up, Mock State Senate, Board Advisory Team on Equity, and the tennis team. She also volunteers at her church and with the League of Women Voters.
Being involved in school and community is important to Bri. She said, “U-E has a lot to offer, it's just a matter of trying new things and knowing where to look.”
Senator Fred Akshar visited UEHS to present Bri with the award. Congratulations!
