Senator O'Mara participated in a "Newsmaker" interview on WHCU Radio with Joe Salzone on October 14th. The discussion focused on a new state mandate introduced by Governor Hochul. Starting in 2025, this mandate will require an increasing percentage of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, such as buses, pickups, vans, garbage trucks, and long-haul trucks, to be electric and zero-emissions.

The rule is known as the Advanced Clean Truck (ACT) mandate. Senator O'Mara addressed its potential impact on various sectors. These include trucking companies that are essential to both state and local economies, municipal highway and public works departments, small business owners, and other consumers.
