U.S. Representative Marc Molinaro of New York's 19th Congressional District delivered his farewell speech on the House Floor, reflecting on his tenure and expressing a commitment to future public service. During his remarks, Molinaro emphasized his dedication to delivering bipartisan results and addressing local issues.
Molinaro expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Upstate New York, stating, "Representing the people of Upstate New York in this historic chamber has been the honor of a lifetime." He highlighted the shared values and resilience of families, farmers, and small businesses in his district as guiding principles during his term.
He acknowledged various challenges tackled during his time in office, including securing federal funding for stabilization centers in Broome and Sullivan Counties to address fentanyl and mental health crises. Molinaro also mentioned efforts to promote the Think DIFFERENTLY initiative nationally, which focuses on breaking barriers for individuals with disabilities.
Environmental preservation was another focus of Molinaro's work. He stated that efforts were made to safeguard natural resources like the Hudson River and preserve farmland for future generations. Amid economic concerns such as inflation and border issues, he sought solutions benefiting everyday Americans.
Reflecting on legislative achievements, Molinaro noted that over 40 pieces of legislation were passed through bipartisan collaboration. This earned him recognition as one of New York’s most bipartisan lawmakers.
Acknowledging those who supported him throughout his term, Molinaro thanked his team members by name for their dedication and hard work. He also expressed deep appreciation for his family: "My wife, Corinne... my children... each amazing... my mother Dona... you are all my foundation."
As he concluded his remarks, Molinaro assured constituents that he would remain committed to public service: "This is not goodbye. It is the start of a new chapter." He left open the possibility of returning to Congress while pledging continued advocacy for shared values and community interests.
