With the respiratory illness season ongoing and allergy season approaching, UHS is expanding its pharmacy services to ensure patients have access to necessary medications. In response to some pharmacies reducing their hours, UHS is offering 24/7 service at its Johnson City location.
Located at 345 Main Street in Johnson City, this UHS Pharmacy provides round-the-clock retail services. It is one of the few 24-hour pharmacies in Greater Binghamton and is conveniently situated near local hospitals. The drive-up window allows patients to collect prescriptions without leaving their vehicles.
James Jester, System Director of Pharmacy Services at UHS, emphasized the organization's commitment: “When you see the strong presence we have in the area, you see UHS’ dedication and commitment to services needed by the people of our community.”
UHS also operates a Specialty Pharmacy for patients with complex medical conditions requiring specialized medications. This service includes support for serious diseases like cancer and asthma and offers financial assistance for qualifying patients.
In addition to Johnson City, UHS has four other retail pharmacies across the Southern Tier:
- UHS Pharmacy Endicott at 1302 East Main Street, Endicott
- UHS Pharmacy Summit Building at 33 Mitchell Avenue, Suite 108, Binghamton
- UHS Pharmacy Vestal at 4417 Vestal Parkway East, Vestal
- Delaware Valley Hospital Community Pharmacy at 121 Stockton Avenue, Walton
These locations provide a wide range of prescription medications and over-the-counter items. Prescriptions from any provider are accepted.
UHS aims to fill prescriptions within 30 minutes for those with acute needs. Patients can receive notifications about their prescriptions through automated calls or texts. The Meds to Beds program delivers medications directly to hospitalized patients before discharge.
The pharmacy department prioritizes patient education to prevent hospital readmissions due to medication misunderstandings. Pharmacist-supervised drug reconciliation plays a crucial role in compliance and successful outcomes.
